Tom Michaud has spent the last 20 years at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods. Currently, he is Vice Chairman of KBW, Inc. and Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, Inc. and President of Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, Inc. Tom is primarily responsible for the firm’s Global Sales and Trading businesses. He also is a member of the 3-person Office of the Chairman and sits on the KBW Board of Directors.
In 2004, Tom led KBW’s successful expansion into Europe, establishing a true international research, sales and trading franchise.
Under Tom’s leadership, KBW has grown to become one of the top seven traders of Nasdaq 100 financial stocks, eclipsing bulge-bracket competitors such as Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan. KBW has also emerged as the leading manager for small, mid and large cap equity offerings in the financial services sector.
Prior to his current position, Tom was Director of Equity Sales and Executive Vice President. While leading this group, KBW’s equity commission business grew by more than 25% per year, far outpacing the industry average. He also helped oversee KBW’s transition from a bank-only boutique to a financial services specialist, adding insurance, brokerage and asset management practices.
Tom earned a B.A. in Economics from Middlebury College and an M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business. Tom currently serves on the board of the Greenwich, Connecticut chapter of The American Red Cross.
